Glendale Water & Power Celebrates Being a ‘Smart Energy Provider’
Glendale, CA, — In 2022, Glendale Water & Power (GWP) earned the Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association for demonstrating a commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives that support the goal of providing safe, reliable, low-cost, and sustainable electric service. This week, March 6-10 is SEP Week, where designated utilities take the opportunity to shine a light on their “smart” programs that have gone toward earning the designation.
Being a SEP recipient is a great accomplishment for GWP. Currently, only 101 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities nationwide have earned this designation. During SEP Week designated utilities celebrate their designation and share their smart energy programs with their customers.
“The SEP designation represents GWP’s commitment to offering programs that help our customers save money, reduce our collective environmental impact, and support our community’s responsible energy use. We are very proud to be recognized as a utility at the forefront of smart energy best practices,” stated Mark Young, General Manager of GWP.
