Who is eligible for a Student Library Account?

Currently, Glendale Unified School District students are eligible for a Student Library Account.

How do I apply for a Student Library Account?

All existing GUSD students should have been enrolled in the GLAC student library account program unless opted out of the program by parent/guardian. To check on your enrollment status, please e-mail us at studentlibraryaccount@glendaleca.gov.

How can a new incoming student at a participating school get a Student Library Account?

New incoming students should check with their school office.

How was my Student Library Account information provided to me?

A library account number and pin were sent through email to the parents/guardians of elementary and middle schoolers.

High School students had their library account number and pin send directly to their GUSD email address. Please check your email for a message from Arts & Culture INFO Library (info@glendaleca.gov).

I don’t have my Student Library Account number and pin; how do I get a this information?

To request your Student Library Account number, please click here and complete the Student Library Account replacement form.  

What is my PIN? How can I change it?

A pin number was assigned to the Student Library Account in the welcome email.You can reset it online here, call us at 818-548-2021, or email us at studentlibraryaccount@glendaleca.gov.

What if I already have a regular library card?

You may continue to use your regular library card in addition to using your new Student Library Account.

How long is the Student Library Account valid?

Your Student Library Card expires when a student turns 20 years of age.

What can I access with my Student Library Account?

Instantly access a large online e-collection, including books, audiobooks, graphic novels, newspapers and magazines for students in preschool through high school.

Practice language skills using the Mango Languages learning tool in FLAG languages and English.

Receive live online tutoring through Homework Help Now, available in English and Spanish.

Practice core grade-level math and language arts skills through [Learning Express].

Participate in Virtual Library Reading Challenges that support a love of reading and learning through Beanstack.

Borrow up to five (5) books or audiobooks from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture. No fines or fees for overdue or lost materials.

Are there any fees for books checked out on a Student Library Account that are returned late?

No, there are no fines or fees for late items.

What happens if I lose/damage a library book?

You will not be charged a lost book fee on any materials checked out with the Student Library Account. However, your borrowing privileges will be blocked in an incremental fashion if items are lost or damaged. For example, if you check out five (5) items, and later: 

  • One (1) item is lost or damaged, then you will only be allowed to borrow up to four (4) items total at a given time until the lost or damaged item is returned or replaced.* 

  • Two (2) items are lost or damaged, then you will only be allowed to borrow up to three (3) items total at a given time until the lost or damaged items are returned or replaced.* 

  • Three (3) items are lost or damaged, then you will only be allowed to borrow up to two (2) items total at a given time until the lost or damaged items are returned or replaced.*

  • Four (4) items are lost or damaged, then you will only be allowed to borrow up to one (1) item total at a given time until the lost or damaged items are returned or replaced.* 

  • All five (5) items are lost or damaged, then you will no longer be allowed to use the Student Library eCard to borrow physical items until the lost or damaged items are returned or replaced.* 

*If you need to replace a book on your account, please e-mail us at studentlibraryaccount@glendaleca.gov to coordinate the replacement process.

How many renewals do items checked out on the Student Library Account?

Books or audiobooks check out for 3 weeks and can then be renewed up to 5 times as long as no one else has placed a hold on the item.

What is the difference between the Student Library Account and the GLAC Children’s or Teen card?

Up to five books/audiobooks can be checked out with a Student Library Account. The Student Library Account does not have fees for replacing lost items.

The regular library card allows for up 100 items to be borrowed at a time. Parents/Guardians may choose to allow children to check out dvds and video games in addition to books with the regular library card. LINK+ items can be placed on hold with the regular library card. However, there are fees for lost items on a regular GLAC card.

I owe money on my regular library card, may I still register and/or use my Student Library Account?

Yes, your Student Library Account is a separate account from your regular library card.

How do I access what I have checked out on my Student Library Account?

To see what you have checked out, you will be required to enter your Student Library Account number and PIN, [Click here]9.

Will I receive a physical card when I visit the library?

Physical Student Library cards are available upon request at all Glendale Library locations. If you prefer a digital card, you can create one by doing the following:

  1. Downloading the Glendale Library Arts and Culture App for Android or iOS.
  2. Once the app is downloaded click on “My Account.” Using the Account number and pin provided in your welcome email, log in to your library account.
  3. Once logged in to your account, scroll down to My library Barcode. Click on "Show card." A digital library card will now be displayed on your screen.

LINK+ items cannot be placed on hold with the Student Library Account. To place a hold on LINK+ items please use your regular Glendale Library Card.
