✨How the Clothing Swap Works!

  • Find up to 10 clean and gently used (no holes or tears) clothing items, like shirts, bottoms, dresses, jackets, and bags.

  • Jewelry, shoes, underwear, socks or any other accessories are not accepted. But, hangers are a great addition to the clothing swap.

  • You can drop your items off on Friday, August 11th at the Glendale Central Library or bring them at the beginning of the clothing swap.

  • You’ll receive a Clothing Swap ticket which gives you priority access to the Clothing Swap.

  • Arrive between 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, show your ticket, and shop! Please don’t take more items than you brought.

  • After 12:00 PM, the Clothing Swap opens to the general public.

  • Once you finish swapping, check out the Free Book Shop, have a coffee or tea, and make some friends.

**The City of Glendale and Glendale Library Arts & Culture are not liable nor responsible for items being clean and in good condition.

❔ Clothing Swap FAQs

Can I bring more than 10 items?

  • We are setting a limit of 10 items to help curate the clothes and reduce clutter.
  • If you have more items to remove from your closet, you can donate items to a local thrift store or organization.

Will the clothes be clean?

  • We ask all participants to only bring clean, gently used items with no holes or tears, like what you would give to a friend or family member.
  • We will sort through the clothing to double check items are clean and without holes, but we can’t guarantee perfectly clean and good quality clothing items. During the swap, we recommend checking for tears and holes. If you find a tear or hole, you can take it to the MakerSpace on the first floor of the Central Library to repair it. We recommend that you wash the clothes before wearing.

How will the clothing be organized?

  • We will organize the clothing into types, such as tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets, etc. We won’t be able to organize items by size or gender. We won’t have changing rooms available for use. We recommend taking your measurement beforehand and bringing a tap measurer with you to help check sizing.

What if I want to takeback the items I brought to the clothing swap?

  • Once you handover your items for the clothing swap, we will not be able to give them back if you change your mind. You can try and find your clothing items during the clothing swap, but we do not guarantee that you will be able to get them back.

What happens to any leftover clothing items?

  • Any leftover clothing items will be donated to a local thrift shop or organization. We may also save some of the clothing items for a future clothing swap.

I didn’t bring any clothes to the event, can I still participate?

  • Yes! However, we will reserve the first two hours of the event for people who brought clothing items for the event. At 12:00 PM, we will open the Clothing Swap for the general public and anyone who did not contribute pieces.

What if I don’t like the items I picked out at the Clothing Swap?

  • You can give your item to a friend or family member. You could try to upcycle it into a piece that you’ll love. The MakerSpace at the Central Library holds classes and has tools and items to help you upcycle the piece. You can also save it for a future clothing swap or donate it.
