Glendale Celebrates 5th Annual Walk to School Day –
Wednesday, October 7th, 2015!
Largest Organized Event in Southern California!

WHAT:30 Glendale/La Crescenta schools are celebrating International Walk-to-School Day! On October 7th, close to 20,000 Glendale students, parents, teachers, volunteers and community leaders will be walking to school! This is the largest ORGANIZED Walk-to-School Day in Southern California! Walk-to-School Day is part of Glendale’s Safe Routes to School Program.
WHO: Media Designee – Lincoln Elementary School, La Crescenta, CA (Glendale Unified School District)
WHERE: Crescenta Valley Park – Honolulu & New York Ave., La Crescenta, CA
WHEN: Wednesday, October 7th at 7:30 am – Lincoln Elementary School community are meeting at Crescenta Valley Park. Large Walking School Bus will walk up New York Ave to Altura Ave, turn right (east) and proceed to school gate on Altura Ave. School address: 4310 New York Ave., La Crescenta, CA 91214
SIGNIFICANCE: International Walk to School Day is an annual event that promotes walking for:
Physical activity and health of our children
Teaching safe walking skills to children
Remind adults to drive safely in school zones
Concern for the environment
Reducing traffic congestion, pollution and speed near schools
Sharing time with community leaders, parents and children
