Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Central Park Paseo

The City of Glendale’s Public Works Department is happy to announce that the long awaited Central Park Paseo is now open and the official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Tuesday, December 8 at 4:30 p.m.!  The pedestrian walkway connects Downtown Glendale to Central Park, the Glendale Central Library and the City’s new arts and entertainment feature: The Museum of Neon Art. The Paseo showcases a brick and concrete paving pattern walkway, composite wood decking, seating, decorative lighting, neon signs and drought tolerant trees.

In anticipation of the construction of a westbound right-turn lane on Colorado Street, between Alley 58 and Brand Boulevard, improvements were also made to Alley 58 and Parking Lot 10. The alley and parking lot were combined into one cohesive two-way circulation system with ninety degree parking stalls on the east, and parallel parking on the west. Forty six parking stalls were also installed with multi-space meters that can be paid with coins, Visa, MasterCard and debit cards. The meters also have an extend-by-phone feature which allows customers who pay by credit card the ability to receive a text message when their parking is about to expire.

An especially well deserved round of applause goes to the team involved, who dedicated their time to shape an everyday alley and parking lot into a beautiful walkway that comes to life when the sun sets. We invite you to see for yourself how stunning it really is at the ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, December 8th at 4:30 p.m.
