Information Courtesy of Caltrans: As part of the improvements, Security Paving (SP), the contractor, is continuing with the bridge demolition on northbound and southbound I-5 at Western Ave. and Sonora Ave., for the widening of the freeway. This will allow for the addition of one carpool lane in each direction of I-5. In addition, shoring (temporary support system) will also be conducted at Western Ave. along I-5. These construction activities will require temporary nighttime full street closures of Western Ave. and Sonora Ave. (Only during bridge demolition.) Detour signs will be posted. (See map below for closure locations, construction work zones and detours. Both street closures will NOT be conducted at the same time.)

NB and SB I-5 at Western Avenue 
Limits of street closure are between Flower & Lake
Bridge demolition (SB I-5 only) and Shoring (NB and SB I-5) 
Dates: Tuesday night, Jan. 7 through Friday morning, January 17, 2014 (Night work only)
(Excludes Friday and Saturday nights) 
Time: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

NB I-5 at Sonora Avenue 
Limits of street closure are between Flower & Lake
Dates: Wednesday night, January 15 through Friday morning, January 17, 2014 (Night work only) 
Time: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
