On Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 1:40 a.m., Seven Glendale units (One Battalion Chief Command Team, three engine companies, two ladder truck companies, and one basic life support ambulance), along with one Burbank Battalion Chief, under the direction of Battalion Chief Cody Smith, responded to a reported house fire located at 1971 E. Glenoaks Boulevard in the City of Glendale.

Engine 25 arrived on scene and discovered a single-family dwelling with visible smoke showing from the rear of the building. Upon further investigation, firefighters encountered a detached garage fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines to ensure the fire was extinguished and conducted ventilation to clear the heat and smoke from the structure. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding structures and were able to contain the fire within the garage. Knock down of the fire was declared at 2:03 a.m., 23 minutes after units were dispatched to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries during this incident. Glendale Fire Department resources were on scene for three hours and nineteen minutes. Structural damage was estimated to be $30,000 and damage to contents was estimated to be $15,000. The Glendale Fire Department encourages residents to ensure sprinklers and smoke detectors are working properly.
