FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 17, 2016

GLENDALE, California – Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is hosting Utility Day at its Utility Operations Center (UOC) on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Once a year, GWP hosts an open house to showcase its operations to residents, and to demonstrate how it provides reliable electric and water service to the community. Glendale residents will have the opportunity to tour the power plant, and visit different booths and demonstrations to learn about how water and electricity get to their homes.

Earlier that same morning, Glendale Water & Power staff will host a private field trip for various Glendale Unified School District 4th-6th graders. Students will tour the demonstration booths to learn about electric safety, water conservation, water main repairs, solar energy and how water and power gets to their homes. Once the students leave the UOC, it is then open to the public.

Two public tours of the power plant and surrounding facilities will be held at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Free food and refreshments will be available at noon until they last. The UOC is located at 800 Air Way, Glendale CA, 91201 and the entrance is at Gate C. Free parking is available on Air Way and Flower Street. Admission is free and open to all residents. For more information call 818-548-2789 or visit www.GlendaleWaterAndPower.com.

Due to the Utility Day events our call center and payment counters will be closed from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 20th.  All calls will be routed to a voicemail system. Customers that leave a message will receive a response by 5:00 p.m. that day.
