Glendale, CA - The Glendale Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident which occurred on May 30, 2017 in the North Glendale / La Crescenta area of the city.

The collision which involved a vehicle and a motorcycle occurred just after 6 pm at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and New York Avenue.   The cause of the collision remains under investigation, though speed does not appear to be a factor at this time.

The motorcyclist was identified as 19 year old Michael Nelson of La Crescenta.  Nelson sustained significant injuries and was rushed to the nearest trauma center where he later died.   The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 60 year old La Crescenta woman who remained on scene and was not impaired.

This marks the second fatality in Glendale for 2017; both of which involved a motorcyclist.  Please Refer to the links below for more information on traffic safety, video messages in various languages and the City’s efforts to Educate, Enforce and Engineer safe streets in the City of Glendale.
