Glendale, CA. — On August 15, 2018 at approximately 7:30 a.m., Glendale officers arrested 36 year old Tiffany Mathis of Inglewood in a stolen property fencing operation that resulted in approximately $35,000.00 in recovered property.

The investigation was launched as a result of a petty theft arrest that occurred on July 9, 2018.  An officer assigned to the Downtown Policing Unit conducted an investigation involving stolen merchandise from the Glendale Galleria Macy’s. Through investigative resources, the officer identified Tiffany Mathis as a suspect involved in a sophisticated fencing scheme. Mathis advertised stolen merchandise on her Facebook and Instagram accounts and then sold the items from her van at a Los Angeles location.

On August 15, 2018, Officers assigned to the Downtown Policing Unit and detectives from the Burglary Unit, served a search warrant in the 10000 block of Crenshaw Blvd in the City of Inglewood. On arrival, Mathis was located a short distance from her apartment and detained after officers observed her loading large duffle bags into her van. It was later determined the duffle bags contained stolen property from various stores.

Officers seized clothing, alcohol, purses, perfume and personal hygiene products, totaling approximately $35,000.00 in merchandise from Mathis’ residence and vehicle. Numerous items recovered were stolen the day before on August 14th from shopping centers in Los Angeles County as well as the Glendale Galleria.

Mathis was placed under arrest and booked for possession of stolen property, violation 496(a) P.C.

Corporate asset representatives from various stores responded to the location and identified the stolen merchandise and took possession of the property.

The case remains under investigation by Glendale Detectives.
