Glendale Police Department Launches New and Improved Recruitment Website

Glendale, CA - The Glendale Police Department has overhauled its JoinGPD recruitment website with the help of the City’s Department of Innovation, Performance & Audit (IPA). The new site layout emphasizes user-centered design by replacing large blocks of text with interactive images, calendars, videos, and even fun quizzes that can be shared on social media. Visual tools from IPA, like the GPD Application Checklist and Physical Agility Test Practice Sheet, engage candidates while informing them of the various steps behind the application process.

Upon arriving at the site, users are met with compelling moments pulled directly from the GPD Instagram feed, punctuated by an "Apply Now" button that has been pushed to the front and center of the site. Additional buttons in Armenian and Korean are also on full display, attracting bilingual candidates while showing Glendale's commitment to matching the diversity of our police force with that of the community we serve.

Our "Steps to Join Glendale PD” are displayed as an intuitive progress bar, styled after "pizza trackers" from familiar pizza delivery services. Each step of the application process is broken down through various forms of interactive media, from printable fitness forms to instructional videos, in order to engage users while also informing them.

The "Find Your Role" section contains a unique personality quiz tailored to show off different aspects of GPD. Users can take the quiz to see which role in the Department would best fit their personality, whether it be a DNA analyst or K9 Officer. Results can then be shared on social media to create more buzz about our Department and set us apart from the rest.

Two interactive calendars feature upcoming test and exam deadlines. These can be imported to user's personal calendars with just one click, and provide detailed information about each event, such as venue locations and checklists to prepare candidates before they arrive.

Finally, the "About Us" section highlights what makes Glendale PD stand out from other agencies. It will also be home to future biographies on GPD staff, and links to find out more information about the City itself.

Did we mention that the entire site looks just as good on mobile? Feel free to check out the new and improved recruitment website at JoinGPD.com!
