GLENDALE NARROWS RIVERWALK PHASE II DEDICATION AND RIBBON CUTTING ANNOUNCED

The City of Glendale Community Services & Parks Department cordially invites the community to the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk Phase II on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM. The ceremony will be held at Flower Plaza, located at the intersection of Flower Street and Fairmont Avenue, in Glendale. Parking is available on Flower Street.

The Glendale Narrows Riverwalk project is located on the northeast bank of the Los Angeles River across the river from Griffith Park. It is a three-phase Project. Phase I included an entry park, a picnic area along the river, an equestrian facility, and half a mile of recreational trail. Phase I was completed in December 2012.

Phase II of the Riverwalk Project includes a river overlook and 110-foot bridge crossing a box culvert, allowing the continuance of the recreational path from Phase I, southeast to the Verdugo Wash and the new Confluence Park.

Phase III looks forward to bridging the Los Angeles River from Glendale Narrows Riverwalk into Griffith Park with a new “Garden Bridge,” whose concept was developed with community input in 2015. Another smaller bridge will span the Verdugo Wash, linking Western Glendale with North Atwater.

Please join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony and for a walk along the river in the new park. In the event of inclement weather, the ribbon cutting ceremony will be cancelled.

For questions, please contact Peter Vierheilig, Project Manager, at 818-548-2000 or by email pvierheilig@glendaleca.gov.
