Firearms and Narcotics Located During Traffic Stop

Glendale, CA: - The Glendale Police Department arrested 30 year old Mikayel Shakhgeldyan of Sylmar for possession of two loaded firearms and various drug offenses.  

On March 17, 2019 at approximately 3:36 a.m., Glendale officers stopped a vehicle at Foothill and Boston for speeding and equipment violations.  The officers approached the vehicle and saw that the driver, later identified as Mikayel Shakhgeldyan, was sitting on a firearm with the grip exposed.  Shakhgeldyan was detained and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed two loaded firearms. A Sig Sauer P938 9mm with seven rounds in the magazine was located on the driver’s seat and a Kimber Custom Pro 1911 45mm with seven rounds in the magazine was located under the driver’s seat.

A further search of the vehicle revealed $2,243.00 in cash, prescription medication, two digital scales, ammunition and individually packed narcotics which appear to be heroin, methamphetamine, LSD and cocaine.

Shakhgeldyan was placed under arrest and booked for possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sales, transporting a controlled substance and possession for sale of prescription sedatives or controlled substance.
