Library, Arts & Culture Launches Annual Summer Reading Program and Free Lunches for Kids Under 18
Glendale, CA – The Summer Reading Program (SRP) returns to the Library, Arts & Culture Department from June 10 through August 20, 2019. The Children’s SRP, now in its 72nd year, is open to infants through students in the 8th grade. Children and parents can set their own achievable reading goals, and each child will be eligible to choose a great new paperback book to take home provided by the Friends of the Library.
The Library will once again partner with the Glendale Unified School District to serve free hot lunches to children under 18 years of age from June 17 through August 9 (except July 4) at the Downtown Central Library (11:30 am – 12:30 pm) and at the Grandview Library (12:00 pm – 1:00 pm).
Children’s librarians have planned exciting activities and special programs to make sure that there will be lots of fun for kids in Glendale at all the libraries this summer.
Teens can enjoy a summer of reading while earning community service hours for high school.
There’s a Summer Reading Program for parents and adults, too! Adults can read for fun and earn a chance to win a bag of groceries courtesy of the Friends of the Library.
