More Speeding and Reckless Driving Arrests

On May 12, 2020, an officer was monitoring traffic at the intersection of Concord Street and West Glenoaks Boulevard.  The officer observed a vehicle accelerating at a high rate of speed in the number 1 lane, then the vehicle made a sudden lane change in front of another vehicle and moved all the way to lane number 3, still traveling at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was traveling in excess of 70 MPH while the posted speed limit in that area is 40 miles per hour.

The vehicle was pulled over for the observed violations and the driver, identified as 22-year-old Shawn Ogletree of Long Beach, was subsequently arrested for reckless driving.

The next day, on May 13, 2020, officers were patrolling and working speed enforcement in the area of Alameda Avenue and West Glenoaks Boulevard when they observed two vehicles simultaneously accelerate from a green light at high rates of speed.

The officers watched as the vehicles appeared to gain advantage over one another, and estimated the vehicles traveling in excess of 60 miles per hour.

Both vehicles were pulled over by officers.  The involved drivers, one identified as a minor and the other was 23-year-old Ejmin Vartanian of Glendale, were arrested for engaging in an illegal speed contest and their vehicles were impounded.
