New Glendale Water & Power Cares Program Offers Customers Bill Assistance

GLENDALE, California – Glendale Water & Power launched its new temporary bill relief program called GWP Cares to help mitigate the economic impact that COVID-19 has had on many of its electric residential and business customers. The GWP Cares program provides eligible customers that meet the program’s guidelines a:

  • One-time bill credit of $150 to residential electric customers living in single family homes.
  • One-time bill credit of $80 to residential electric customers living in multi-family housing.
  • One-time bill credit of $150 to eligible businesses that are adversely affected by the COVID-19 “Stay At Home” order or did not operate in one of the essential services sectors covered in the Governor’s Executive Order N-33-20 for a period of at least 4 weeks.
  • One-time bill credit of $60 to residential low-income customers currently enrolled in GWP’s Senior/Glendale Care low-income discount program. These customers will be automatically enrolled in the Cares program and receive the one-time bill credit.

The GWP Cares program enrollment period is from July 1, 2020 – October 31, 2020. Applicants must apply during the enrollment time period, and will receive the one-time credit on their electric bill if they meet the eligibility criteria. Customers will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis (based upon the date of submittal of a complete application) up to the program budget cap. Customers can apply online at glendale.conservationrebates.com. The residential income qualifying guidelines are listed below. *The income eligibility guidelines are generally based on the income eligibility levels set for tax payers in various categories to receive the maximum benefit under ‘SEC. 6428. 2020 RECOVERY REBATES FOR INDIVIDUALS” of the Federal “Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act” or “CARES Act” signed into law on March 27, 2020, i.e., “(1) $150,000 in the case of a joint return, “(2) $112,500 in the case of a head of household, and “(3) $75,000 in the case of a taxpayer not described in paragraph (1) or (2)”.
