Reckless Drivers Arrested - Vehicles Impounded

On August 13, 2020, just after 8:00 p.m., an officer working speed enforcement at the intersection of Glenoaks Blvd and Alma St heard a vehicle rapidly accelerate causing the tires to spin and screech on the pavement.  The driver then rapidly accelerated on Glenoaks Blvd and made turns at a speed that again caused the tires to skid.  It appeared that there was an audience watching the reckless vehicle conduct these maneuvers.  The driver, 18-year-old Karen Martirosyan of Glendale, was subsequently arrested for reckless driving and his vehicle was impounded at the scene.

On August 16, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Glenoaks Blvd and Highland Ave witnessed the driver of a truck intentionally burn out the tires, causing screeching and smoke to come off of them at a red light.  When the light turned green, the driver continued to burn out the tires as he made a left turn at the intersection and the officer noticed a group of individuals in a nearby parking lot whistling at the driver.  The officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, 24-year-old Haydook Hacopian of Glendale, who stated he was “trying to impress the girls” who were watching nearby.  Hacopian was arrested for exhibition of speed, and his vehicle was impounded.

On August 19, 2020, just after 9:00 a.m., a motor officer was working traffic enforcement in the area of Brand Blvd and Milford St when they observed a vehicle make an illegal U-turn across double yellow lines and lose traction in the process causing the tires to spin, screech and emit smoke.  The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver, 25-year-old Alexander Darmandjian of North Hollywood, had a suspended driver’s license.  Darmandjian was subsequently arrested for driving with a suspended license and exhibition of speed, and he was cited for his traffic violations.  His vehicle was impounded at the scene.

The Glendale Police Department has and will continue to conduct speed enforcement on our city streets.  Please remember to adhere to the posted speed limits and to all vehicle laws.
