Male Arrested in Possession of a Loaded “Ghost Gun”

On Saturday, October 31, 2020, around 6:00 p.m., patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for not having a front license plate in the area of Central Ave and Riverdale Dr.  Officers contacted the driver, later identified as 19-year-old Julian Freebird of Mission Hills, regarding the violation.  Freebird stated he did not have his driver’s license on him and that it had been suspended.  Officers conducted a records check of Freebird and discovered he was unlicensed.  Officers also noticed that Freebird had what appeared to be a gang related tattoo on his arm.

Officers asked Freebird about the tattoo and Freebird stated he used to be in a gang, but that he was no longer a member of that gang.  During the contact, Freebird admitted to officers that he had an unregistered loaded “Ghost firearm” in the vehicle.  Officers located the loaded handgun inside of Freebird’s vehicle along with four cans of spray paint.

The vehicle Freebird was driving matched the description of a suspect vehicle in recent vandalisms in Glendale where gang graffiti had been spray painted.  The color of spray paint officers located in Freebird’s vehicle was the same color used in these incidents.  Freebird was arrested and booked for being in possession of a loaded firearm, possession of spray paint with intent to graffiti and for participating in a criminal street gang.
