CITY OF GLENDALE ANNOUNCES LOTTERY RESULTS FOR 2nd ROUND OF COVID-19 RECOVERY GRANT FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

CITY OF GLENDALE ANNOUNCES LOTTERY RESULTS FOR 2nd ROUND OF COVID-19 RECOVERY GRANT FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

Glendale, CA –The Glendale City Council recently allocated an additional $650,000 in funding to help small businesses recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19. This funding was in addition to the $2.17 million in federal (CARES Act) and local (Measure S) assistance that was approved earlier in the year. The additional funds allowed for a second round of small business grants:

  • Small Business Recovery Grant Program (Measure S)278 applications received. For Round 2 this program will provide eligible small businesses, with 500 or fewer employees, with a one-time $5,000 grant for operating expenses. Businesses must have been in operation for a minimum of 6 months and currently operate out of a commercial location in Glendale.
  • Low-Income Small Business Grant Program (CARES Act) – 56 applications received. For Round 2 this program will provide eligible small non-essential businesses and restaurants with a one-time $5,000 grant to assist with operating expenses. Businesses must employ low-income individuals and have no more than 25 employees, be in operation for a minimum of one year, and operate out of a commercial location in Glendale.

A random lottery was conducted for each program by an independent, third party vendor on November 23, 2020. City staff has reviewed and certified the lists which will be made public on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.

Applicants may log in at waitlistcheck.com to check the status of their application. Results may also be viewed at ChooseGlendaleCA.com/SmallBusinessGrants. Over the next few weeks, City staff will contact applicants in the order they were selected in the lottery, to confirm eligibility and request verification documents. Applicants are asked to not contact City Staff during this stage in the process.

This grant program is part of the City of Glendale’s larger Business Recovery Strategy, which allocated $4.2 million to the Glendale business community to assist in their recovery due to hardship created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
