Traffic Stops Lead to Male Arrested with Concealed Firearm
On August 28, 2021 just after 8:30 p.m., officers assigned to Glendale Police Department’s patrol unit were working a traffic enforcement detail when they observed a vehicle near the intersection of Lincoln Ave. and Colorado St. with tinted windows and no front license plate.
The officers initiated a traffic stop, and upon contacting the driver (later identified as 28-year-old Irwin Sanchez of Glendale) noticed a gun cleaning kit on the front passenger floorboard. A search of the vehicle produced an unlocked gun box with a pistol inside of it. Also in the gun box was a loaded magazine, and in the back of the vehicle was two boxes of ammunition.
Sanchez was subsequently arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
Glendale Police Department officers continue to proactively patrol the city to keep residents and visitors safe. Please note that you can always report suspicious activity to our non-emergency line by calling (818) 548-4911. If you require immediate assistance, please call 9-1-1.
