Abandoned Vehicle Leads to Female Arrested on Multiple Charges Including Carrying a Concealed Weapon

On August 29, 2021 at approximately 4:00 a.m., an officer assigned to Glendale Police Department’s patrol unit was in the area of Colorado St. and Wing St. when they noticed a vehicle double parked in the roadway.  The vehicle was running, but unoccupied.

Inside of the vehicle officers could see torch lighters, which are commonly used to smoke methamphetamine.

Nearby, the officer observed a female (later identified as 33-year-old Jacqueline Alvizo [transient]) walking southbound on Porter St. who initially provided officers with a false name and denied association with the vehicle.

Assisting officers arrived and a loaded handgun was located about one foot away from the passenger door of the vehicle in a parkway.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s ignition/steering panel was removed and the wires were exposed indicating that the vehicle was stolen.  Alvizo later admitted to arriving at the location in the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle produced a glass pipe with a bulbous end and a screwdriver.

Alvizo was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, vehicle theft, possessing a controlled substance, and an outstanding warrant.  During a search of Alvizo at the Glendale Police Department’s jail, it was learned that Alvizo had attempted to bring in a bindle of methamphetamine, so a charge of bringing a controlled substance into jail was added to her arrest.

The vehicle was returned to the registered owner.
