Traffic Stop Leads to Two Arrested for Being Ex-Felons with a Firearm, Possession, and Identity Theft

On September 17, 2021 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers assigned to Glendale Police Department’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED) were travelling on Glendale Ave. when they observed a vehicle make a right hand turn while failing to stop for a red light.

The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver, 34-year-old Kaitlyn Bryant of North Hollywood.  A records check revealed that Bryant was on active probation.

A search of the vehicle produced 24 access cards belonging to other individuals, three fraudulent California Driver’s Licenses, counterfeit cash, a firearm magazine speed loader, a bag of stolen mail, and two glass pipes with bulbous ends.

During the investigation, officers learned that Bryant was staying at a nearby motel.  Officers knocked on the room that Bryant was associated with, and 39-year-old Gregory Stewart of Redondo Beach opened the door.  A subsequent search of the room revealed a loaded handgun, two plastic baggies containing methamphetamine, several more access cards belonging to other individuals, two California Driver’s Licenses, and three laptops.

Bryant and Stewart were arrested and booked for each being an ex-felon with a firearm, identity theft, and possessing a controlled substance while armed.  Bryant was also arrested for violating the terms of her probation.
