Male with Several Outstanding Warrants Arrested for Carrying Loaded Firearm in Public

On September 24, 2021 just before 11:30 p.m., a sergeant with the Glendale Police Department noticed a vehicle partially blocking a roadway in a parking lot on the 1800 block of Verdugo Rd. Further investigation lead the sergeant to discover that the vehicle registration was expired and there was a male reclining in the back seat.

Assisting officers arrived and made several requests to the male to exit the vehicle. Eventually the male, later identified as 30-year-old Phillip Ramirez of Los Angeles, exited the vehicle. Ramirez stated there may be methamphetamine pipes in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle produced a fanny pack containing a loaded firearm, two glass pipes with bulbous ends, and a black bag containing methamphetamine under the rear passenger seat.

During the investigation officers learned that Ramirez had several outstanding warrants out for his arrest.

Ramirez was arrested and booked for carrying a loaded firearm in public, possessing a controlled substance, and his outstanding warrants.

Due to LA County’s “Zero-Dollar” bail order, Ramirez was released from custody with a notice to appear in court at a later date.

Glendale Police Officers continue to proactively patrol the city to keep Glendale safe for residents and visitors.
