Stolen Vehicle and Ghost Gun Found – Two Arrested

On November 16, 2021 at approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer assigned to Glendale PD’s patrol bureau located a stolen vehicle in a motel parking lot on the 1500 block of E. Colorado St.

Assisting units arrived, and officers learned what room in the motel the vehicle was associated with. The officers attempted a door knock on the room, a phone call, but ultimately had to use the vehicle’s PA system in order to get the occupants of the room to exit. After two announcements, 22-year-old Stephanie Garcia of Los Angeles exited the room, and after a third, 30-year-old Luis Hernandez (transient) exited.

A search of the room produced a ghost gun and a magazine inside of a ripped mattress, three methamphetamine pipes, a baggie containing methamphetamine, and a coin purse containing a large denomination of cash and an identification card, social security card, and access card belonging to another individual.

Throughout the investigation, officers learned that Hernandez is a convicted felon on active probation, and had a non-local no-bail warrant out for his arrest.

Ultimately, Hernandez was arrested and booked for being an ex-felon with a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, possessing ammunition when prohibited, possessing a controlled substance while armed, vehicle theft, identity theft, and for his outstanding warrant. Garcia was arrested and booked for possessing unlawful paraphernalia.
