Male Arrested for Vehicle Theft, Burglary, and Possession
On November 17, 2021 at approximately 5:30 p.m., an officer located a stolen vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the 4600 block of Colorado Blvd.
Additional officers arrived, and the driver, 26-year-old Samuel Sarmiento of Cudahy, was asked to exit the vehicle. Sarmiento exited the vehicle, and a subsequent vehicle search revealed a large bag of methamphetamine, a designer handbag filled with jewelry, a credit card, three California Identification cards and Social Security cards all belonging to other individuals, a checkbook in someone else’s name, and an open package belonging to someone else. During the investigation, officers learned that there was approximately $16,000 of stolen merchandise in the vehicle.
Sarmiento was subsequently arrested and booked for vehicle theft, burglary, and possessing a controlled substance.
Due to L.A. County’s emergency “Zero-Dollar” bail order, Sarmiento was released from custody with a notice to appear in court at a later date.
