Male Charged with Carjacking, Robbery and Attempted
Home Invasion Robbery After Follow-Home Attack

On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Glendale Police Department received a call of a carjacking that had just occurred at a residence on the 1100 block of Sweetbriar Dr.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had just arrived home and exited their vehicle when they were approached by multiple suspects who began punching and grabbing at the victim. As the victim struggled with the suspects, one of the suspects produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim. At this point, the victim stopped struggling with the suspects. The suspect with the handgun took the victim’s keys, told the victim they were going into their house and began walking towards the front door.

The victim began yelling for help, which alerted a neighbor who came out and began yelling at the suspects. At this point, two of the suspects entered the victim’s high end vehicle as the third entered a vehicle they had all arrived in, fleeing the scene. The total loss during the robbery, including the victim’s vehicle that was carjacked, was estimated to be over $300,000.

Later that same day, detectives with the Glendale Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide Unit, identified, located, arrested and booked 27-year-old Marquise Hulse of Los Angeles in connection with the robbery. It should be noted that during their investigation, detectives discovered that Hulse was on felony probation for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, felony evading and burglary. They also discovered that during the time of the robbery, Hulse was wearing two GPS ankle monitors and had an open case for being a felon in possession of a handgun and burglary.

Detectives successfully filed charges of robbery, attempted home invasion robbery and carjacking on Hulse. Hulse’s bail was set at $255,000. Detectives continue to actively investigate this case in order to apprehend the additional suspects involved.
