Four Arrested for Organized Retail Crime – Two With Outstanding Warrants

On November 27, 2021 just before 1:00 p.m., officers assigned to Glendale PD’s Downtown Policing Unit (DPU) were alerted by multiple stores that a male had possibly committed several thefts. Officers located a male matching the description, who had set off anti-theft alarms inside of a Glendale Galleria business upon entering and exiting the business.

The male, later identified as 24-year-old Naim Hakim of Lemon Grove, was found to be in possession of a folded knife and merchandise that had security sensors still attached. Hakim was also found to be on post-release community supervision (PRCS), and had an outstanding no-bail warrant out for his arrest. Further investigation revealed that Hakim was in possession of three identification cards and several credit cards belonging to other individuals and a set of vehicle keys.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage, officers learned that the male had arrived at the Galleria in a vehicle with three other individuals, later identified as 30-year-old Nicola Turley of Coronado, 47-year-old Rahsaan Jackson of San Diego, and 27-year-old Kamrun Smith of Murrieta. Upon contacting the three individuals, officers located a baggie of Fentanyl, a glass pipe, and personal identifying information of other individuals on Turley’s person, and more stolen merchandise. Smith initially provided false identifying information to officers, and was found to have an outstanding no-bail warrant for his arrest.

Hakim, Turley, Jackson, and Smith were arrested and booked for organized retail theft and possessing known stolen property. Hakim was also arrested for identity theft and for violating the terms of his PRCS. Smith was also arrested for providing false identification to officers and for his outstanding warrant.
