Glendale Mayor Brotman and City Councilmembers Express Concern Following Daring Flash Mob Burglary at Yves Saint Laurent Store

Glendale, CA — “As the leaders of the City of Glendale, we are deeply concerned about the incident that occurred yesterday at the Yves Saint Laurent store in our community,” said Mayor Brotman.

Yesterday, a brazen group of individuals orchestrated a coordinated attack on the Yves Saint Laurent store at the Americana at Brand. This calculated criminal act not only resulted in the theft of valuable merchandise but also posed a threat to the safety and well-being of our community.

Our Glendale Police Department's Burglary Unit has initiated a comprehensive investigation into this incident. They are working in close collaboration with the Americana to bring those responsible for this crime to justice. The safety of our residents, local businesses, and visitors remains our utmost priority.

This type of criminal activity, known as "flash mob" burglary, is a growing concern in communities across the country. It involves a disturbing level of organization and audacity, as individuals overwhelm a store, seize merchandise, and escape in a coordinated fashion. We will not tolerate such behavior in Glendale, and we are fully committed to pursuing all available resources to prevent future incidents.

“This coordinated crime challenges our values, but our determination to uphold safety and unity is resolute. Together, we'll ensure that such incidents do not define us,” said Mayor Dan Brotman.

We call upon the residents of Glendale to join us in our effort to combat crime by remaining vigilant and reporting any information that could aid in our investigation. Working together, we can ensure that Glendale continues to be a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

The Glendale Police Department asks anyone with information regarding this case to immediately call 818-548-4911. To report anonymously, call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or visit www.lacrimestoppers.org
