GWP Proposed Rate Adjustments & Community Meetings

GLENDALE, California – Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is proposing an increase in electric rates to take effect December 1, 2023, July 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025 averaging 14.8%, 11.3% and 11.3% respectively. This proposed electric rate adjustment is needed to ensure the electric utility maintains financial stability and has enough funds to pay the debt service on the bonds that will be used over the next three years as various projects move forward including the City Solar Build, the Grayson Energy Center, the Scholl Canyon Biogas Generation and other capital improvement projects.  Funds will also be used to cover general increase in costs of renewable energy, wholesale purchased power, and fuel.

GWP has scheduled community meetings and will also present at the upcoming Commission Meeting. Customers are encouraged to attend these community meetings to learn more about the proposed rate adjustment structure. GWP will present the full rate study by customer class to City Council at the end of October for their consideration and implementation. This new more detailed rate study will determine the rate adjustments by customer classification. If approved, the rates will take affect December 1, 2023, July 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025.
