Farewell Reception Honoring Councilmember Paula Devine

Glendale, CA – After a decade of dedicated service to City Hall, Councilmember Paula Devine is stepping down from her position on the City Council.

A resident of Glendale for over 40 years, Paula has devoted herself to improving the lives of others through education, volunteerism, and public service.

Throughout her professional career, she served as a secondary teacher, department chair, coach, and notably, as the first Girls Athletic Director following the passage of Title IX.

Following her retirement, Paula continued her service to the community through extensive volunteerism. Her involvement in various organizations, such as Glendale Adventist Medical Center Foundation, Soroptimist International of Glendale, Family Promise, Kiwanis of Glendale, Glendale Historical Society, Glendale Women’s Civic League, Glendale Police Foundation, Glendale Healthy Kids, Glendale Commission on the Status of Women, and many others, showcased her deep-rooted commitment to making Glendale a better place for all.

Elected to the Glendale City Council in 2014, Paula's leadership and vision have been instrumental in shaping the city's policies and initiatives. Serving as Mayor in 2016 and 2021, she led with grace, integrity, and kindness, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and constituents alike.

Paula's impact extended beyond city borders as she represented Glendale on several regional committees and authorities, including the Hollywood Burbank Airport Authority, the Energy and Environment Committee for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), and the Arroyo Verdugo Joint Powers Authority.

Paula's exemplary volunteer work has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades, including the Woman of the Year award from Congressman Adam Schiff, Volunteer of the Year from the Glendale Association of Realtors, the Heart and Excellence Award from the YWCA, and many others.
