City of Glendale Accepting Applications for Charter Review Committee

Glendale, CA – The City of Glendale is calling upon its residents to step forward and participate in a process aimed at modernizing the City’s Charter.

The Glendale Charter, serving as the foundational document of the city's governance for 103 years, is in need of an update, with the last major revision occurring nearly two decades ago.

To be eligible to participate on the Charter Review Committee, you must be a Glendale resident and a voter.

The City Council will review all the applications submitted and select 9 members to serve on the Charter Review Committee. Committee members will convene regularly to examine outdated sections of the Charter and propose recommendations for revisions. The recommended revisions will undergo review by the City Council. If approved by the Council, they will subsequently be presented to the community during elections.

The tentative meeting schedule is as follows:

May to July 2024: Two meetings a month, 2-3 hours per meeting.
July 2024 to March 2026: Quarterly meetings that increase in frequency in 2025.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by April 14th. For further details and to access the application form, please visit GlendaleCA.gov/Charter
