Man with a Knife Arrested After Threatening His Family

GLENDALE, CA – At approximately 10 a.m., Glendale Police Department Communications received a call of a man subject with a knife in the 300 block of Harvey Dr. Upon arrival, Glendale Police Officers found that the suspect, Oscar Urenda, 31, of Pacoima, had been threatening his family with a knife. Once the suspects family was in a safe location away from the suspect, Urenda barricaded himself in a vehicle.

The Glendale Police Department responded to the scene with their Crisis Negotiations and SWAT Teams. Negotiations began. After approximately one hour, the suspect surrendered to officers and was safely taken into custody.

Urenda was arrested for brandishing a knife in a threatening manner toward his family. After the arrest, Urenda was transported to a medical facility for a psychiatric evaluation.
