Justin Avenue House Fire

 

On Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 8:02 p.m., 10 Glendale units (1 Battalion Chief, 4 engine companies, 2 truck companies, 1 air utility company, and 2 basic life support ambulances) and a Burbank engine company, under the command of Battalion Chief Bill Lynch, responded to a house fire located at 1230 Justin Avenue in the City of Glendale.

 

Glendale Engine 27 arrived first on the scene to discover smoke showing from the front and flames showing from the rear of the single-family dwelling. Firefighters deployed multiple hand lines into the home and conducted ventilation operations on the roof. Knock down of the fire was declared at 8:35 p.m., 33 minutes after units were dispatched to the scene.

 

The Glendale Fire paramedics assessed one patient at the scene. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Glendale Fire Department resources were on scene for three hours and 59 minutes. Structural damage estimates are $250,000 and $50,000 in damage to contents. The Glendale Fire Department encourages residents to ensure sprinklers and smoke detectors are working properly.
