Duties

The Historic Preservation Commission reviews Glendale Register and historic district nominations, conducts design review for work proposed at historic properties, and helps guide City Council in its efforts to identify and protect historic resources throughout the city.

Membership

  • Five members
  • Four year term
  • Two term limit
  • No compensation

Qualifications

Each member of the historic preservation commission shall be a qualified elector of the city at the time of appointment and during incumbency. All members shall demonstrate interest, competence and knowledge in historic preservation. Composition of the commission shall include at least one member doing business in one or more of the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology, or other historic preservation related fields. Elected officials may not serve on the commission. Active commissioners are not allowed to serve on more than one board/commission/committee (as defined in Title 2 of the Glendale Municipal Code) at the same time.
