Project Scope

The existing playground equipment at Glenoaks Park was originally installed over thirteen (13) years ago and is in need of replacement to meet the growing needs of a diverse population and comply with the current safety and accessibility standards. The new playground design will enhance the quality of life for the children by providing a safe, accessible, and active playground promoting physical activity and fitness. The new design will incorporate the current sand volleyball area for the installation of a dual sky run zip track, thus expanding the play space by 1,800 sq. ft., for a total playground area of 7,785 sq. ft. At the request of the residents near Glenoaks, this project will further install shade structures covering the playground. This project is consistent with Council’s priority, which is to develop and maintain facilities to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Glendale.

Budget

The total project development cost is estimated at $641,000.

Status Update

Construction for the new Glenoaks Park Playground will start on October 24, 2022, and schedule permitting, will be completed by December 15, 2022.

To reduce the risk of injury, the entire playground area will not be accessible for the duration of the project. The remainder of the park will be open to the public.
