The Redevelopment Agency, through its economic development programming, significantly upgraded the quality of life for Glendale. Through land development, business assistance, and policy enhancements, Glendale has continued to be a place where both major and small businesses thrive, residential value is preserved or increased, and entertainment and recreation options are plentiful. 

The dissolution of the Redevelopment Agency by the State of California had a significant impact to the revenue source that supports economic development activities yet, it is not an economic development tool that is returning.

Glendale took this challenge head on and worked to create an opportunity for the City of Glendale. Through the formation of the Glendale Economic Development Corporation, there is an opportunity to transcend the notion of subsidiary government programming, and combine the stability and expertise of local government, with the financing and more expansive capacities of a non-profit entity.

The Glendale Economic Development Corporation is the continuation of the efforts planted by the Redevelopment Agency. Innovative thinking and strategic economic development efforts will ensure business attraction, business assistance, business retention, city-wide branding, economic development research, and other land-use and service activities will continue to flourish in Glendale.
