The mission of the Glendale Fire Department Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Section is to provide the highest and most compassionate level of life saving services to the community. Over 80% of the department's incidents are medical in nature. When a emergency medical call is received, a Paramedic Engine staffed with at minimum two paramedics is dispatched. They are also accompanied by a Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulance staffed with additional personnel to assist with treatment and transportation of the patient.
All sworn fire personnel are trained and certified at a minimum as Emergency Medical Technicians, many have additional medical training and are certified Paramedics. All Glendale Fire Engines are staffed with a minimum of two paramedics at all times. This level of training and certification allows us to provide the citizens of Glendale with an exemplary level of medical service. Our emergency medical service providers are always on duty for you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

AMBULANCE OPERATOR
Over 80% of Glendale Fire Department’s calls are medical. Part-time Ambulance Operators respond with sworn personnel, providing assistance as needed and transporting patients to local hospitals. Shifts are usually either 12 hours or 24 hours in duration and currently follow the A/B/C platoon model, working 7 days of a 10-day cycle per month.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONSES
A Paramedic Engine responds from each of the nine Fire Stations around the city. Each Paramedic Engine is staffed with two highly trained paramedics. A paramedic is also on each of the department’s three Ladder Trucks as staffing permits. Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulances are strategically placed throughout the city at Stations 21, 22, 25, 26, 27 and 29 to provide transport to local hospitals. This response model allows the Glendale Fire Department to provide enhanced emergency medical services to all areas of the city.
AMBULANCE BILLING RATES
The Glendale Fire Department charges for ambulance services based on the Los Angeles County general public ambulance rates. Current rates can be found at this LINK.
