The Library, Arts & Culture Department received both a California Humanities-For-All Project Grant and a California State Library California Listens grant that has enabled the Library to interview, record, and share the stories of community members and how they came to live in Glendale and surrounding communities. Making use of the StoryCenter model of storytelling, we are in the process of using iPads with a special software application installed to record the audio and video stories community members share with us. Next, memorabilia and/or images provided by storytellers further enhance the appeal of these stories, portions of which will be featured in our ReflectSpace gallery’s Fall 2019 Tell Me: Stories of Migration to Glendale. Stories are powerful tools through which our community will grow stronger.
