Why is the city changing to the one-pass collection system?

The One-Pass System improves our operations by providing collection efficiencies, resulting in decreased costs, and reducing emissions.

Will this change/effect my collection day?

No

Real Time Service Updates

Truck operators are now equipped with tablets to log service updates in real time. They use the tablets to confirm that carts have been serviced or not, adding details for not providing service (i.e., carts are blocked, missing, overfilled, etc.). Consequently, our call center staff can see in real time the route status should our residents call for details. These tablets are equipped with cameras should additional data be required.

Why are you changing my driver?

We are adding two additional drivers to your collection area: One driver will collect your trash, another will collect your recyclables while the third driver will collect your organics. Your pick-up day will remain the same.

Will this delay my pick-ups?

No. Collection starts at 7:00 AM. Please have all of your carts out for service.

What if my trash isn’t picked up on my collection day?

In the unlikely case where your trash or other items are not collected, call Integrated Waste Management: 818-548-3916.

What are the benefits of this switch?

 1) Eliminates Contamination and Improved Tonnage Tracking

The One-Pass System has ONE designated truck for ONE specific load. By having one truck collect only trash, this reduces contamination since it will no longer pick up recycling and organics using the same vehicle

2) Cost-Efficient

The One-Pass System allows trucks to collect a complete load prior to driving to their drop-off destinations, eliminating making numerous trips with half-loads. This helps conserve fuel cost and reduce pollution
