Composting is the process of decomposing organics, such as vegetables, yard and wood waste, into valuable soil amendments. 40% of Glendale's waste is made up of organic material, and you can help keep it out of the landfill.

Free Composting Bin

FREE COMPOSTING BIN

Would you like compost to help your garden thrive? Residents of homes and apartments may request a free compost bin from the city. Free compost bins are also provided for Glendale teachers to use in schoolsFollow the directions below to obtain your bin. Remember to follow all directions in your confirmation email for bin delivery. 

A Redmon 65 Gallon Compost Bin can be delivered to your home to provide a rich soil amendment. Compost is created through bin air slots that allow oxygen to flow through the container. Finished compost is retrieved from the bottom doors. The bin dimensions are 26" wide, 26" deep, and 30.75" tall. The compost bin weighs approximately 20 lbs. when empty.

COMMUNITY GARDENS

Community Gardens are also part of the City of Glendale landscape. These include City-operated community gardens at Palmer Park and Verdugo Park.
