GWP is in the process of developing our 2024 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which analyzes Glendale's future energy needs and determines the most suitable resources to fulfill those needs, taking into account factors such as reliability, cost, constraints, environmental responsibility, efficiency, and risk.

The IRP is GWP's 20-year plan to continue providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for Glendale residents and businesses. It determines important factors about the future of Glendale's energy system, such as where Glendale gets its power, what its mix of renewable and clean energy will be, and how much it will cost to obtain and supply that energy mix. The IRP is prepared every five years and must be adopted by the City Council and submitted to the California Energy Commission (CEC).  We value your participation and invite you to be involved in shaping this plan.

There are various ways you can contribute to the development of the plan. In the upcoming months, GWP will be hosting community townhalls to gather public input and feedback on the IRP. An online survey will also be made available to ensure that those who cannot make the meetings will still be able to provide their input. GWP is also forming a Stakeholder Technical Advisory Group (STAG) that will provide more detailed and consistent input on the IRP process. The STAG will be made up of a representative cross-section of the Glendale community. We encourage Glendale residents and business owners to get involved and spread the word about the IRP to foster broad community participation.

The 4th and final IRP Townhall meeting was on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., at the Sparr Heights Community Center (1613 Glencoe Way, Glendale, CA 91208).

The final townhall presented results from the modeling of future energy scenarios developed by GWP and the IRP Stakeholder Technical Advisory Group. These scenario results will show different ways GWP could meet its future energy needs and the scenarios’ implications on costs, renewable energy generation, and system reliability.

Translation will be available in Armenian and Spanish. This meeting will be recorded and posted publicly for those who can’t attend. For questions and comments on this townhall or the IRP in general, please email GWP-IRP@GlendaleCA.gov.
